Trails in our area
We are currently focusing on four main issues in our area. Please click the place name for a few pictures of the area.
- Bedford Old Coach Road (map): A wonderful trail important for linking our community together.
- Belchers Marsh (map): Preparing and maintaining signage in the area, as well as a leaflet with information on the natural history of the area.
- Blue Mountain/Birch Cove Lakes Area: This area is now a proposed regional park in the HRM regional plan.
Keeping this important natural area open to trails and as natural as possible. Follow this link to view a map of the trail to the top of Blue Mountain. - Mainland Commons: Ensuring that there are sufficient walking trails and signage. We have recently designed and implemented a 900m Loop Trail starting at the softball diamond parking lot at the top of Westridge Drive, travelling through old growth forest and a bog. The 4.0km Linear Trail links Main Avenue and Kearney Lake Road.
As well as these locations, there are other wonderful trails and natural places in our community that we encourage all residents to enjoy.
In addition, we have set up a series of photo albums of different events in our area, such as a hike to the top of Blue Mountain, cleaning up at Park West School, close-up shots of areas that need improvements at Belchers Marsh, as well as a return to Belchers Marsh in the rain.
Thanks to Todd Beal and Chris Miller for their photographs. If you have any photos to share of these areas, or other trails in our area, please contact us at , and we would be happy to showcase them here.
